I’ve always loved going into johnnies and getting a breakfast it’s always been my Go To place for breakfast. Food was great and it’s always spacious and not cramped like other cafes. It was always nice to see they got a rebrand and new things. However, I am unsure for how long this would be for but there was a cash only sign which almost made me turn away however thankfully my friend was with us and took out cash with his card. If you do go during this time please bring cash or your card to take out cash

Popped into Johnnies after a visit to Kings College Hospital for the first time. I was greeted by a very warm polite positive lady at the counter who was willing to help me through the menu when I mentioned it was my first time. Had Burger & Chips with a soft drink & came to £7.00. One of the best burgers Ive tasted. Service was polite & brisk. Camberwell you are lucky to have such a fine diner ! Ive told my Son to try it next time he goes to Kings College to see his grandmother. I'll be back!

I recently visited Johnnies with my kids and nephew. It is located on Coldharbour Lane, close to Denmark Hill and just a short walk from Loughborough Junction station. The place has a distinctly American-style aesthetic, with a menu that leans heavily on hearty portions, indulgent pancakes stacked high with syrups, and milkshakes served the classic way — in tall stainless cups. The food is big, bold, and unapologetically sweet. The pancakes are massive, and the milkshakes are almost impossible to finish in one sitting because of how rich they are. Thankfully, they provide takeaway packs, which is a nice touch if you can’t polish off your meal. In terms of price, I wouldn’t call it cheap or expensive. Four of us spent around £70, which works out to roughly £17.50 per person — fair considering the portion sizes. Customer service was excellent; the staff were attentive, friendly, and handled the busy atmosphere well. The nice lady attendant even helped with a family picture on our visit. They serve both breakfast and brunch, and it can get very busy at peak times, so I’d recommend going a little earlier if you want a more relaxed experience. While the overall vibe is American, there’s also an Italian touch — I noticed a shelf with snacks from Italy, which adds a bit of variety to the experience. For me, this is the kind of place you try as a one-off treat or for a fun brunch outing, rather than a daily breakfast spot — unless you’ve got your sugar levels well under control!
